I’m making progress on Blake Jordan #11, slow and steady, one word after another. I added 10,000 words in August towards a 75,000 goal. Which is better than zero. I also hit the midpoint in the book which means I’m halfway there. But still a long way to go.
Some days I don’t get to write as much as I’d like. Or at all. But I learned long ago that each day is a battle in the war. You may win. Or you may lose. But you have to fight. And for those who keep on fighting, eventually, you’ll win if you can just hang in there…
It’s easy to view our works in progress as not enough. Maybe the goals you set for yourself haven’t been realized yet. Maybe you don’t have the promotion you want yet. Or like me you haven’t made as much progress on a manuscript as you would’ve liked.
But remember…
Someone else is wishing they were your age again.
Someone else is needing that job you dread going to.
Someone else is dreaming of the home you complain about.
Someone else is praying to have the health you take for granted.
Someone else is wishing they could’ve written their first novel by now.
When we’re in a fight, struggling to get what we want, it’s easy to forget that we already have what we need: the blessings we have now that we used to dream about long ago.
Don’t let difficult times let you forget your blessings. Here’s to staying in the fight. -Ken
